(SportsRadio 610) - Texans linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill was carted off the field in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks.
Grugier-Hill suffer a non-contact knee injury. At the end of the play, several Texans players took a knee as a cart was brought onto the field for Grugier-Hill. The Texans at first said officially he was questionable to return with a knee injury, but the scene on the field made it clear he would not be back in this game. The team later downgraded Grugier-Hill's status to "out."
Earlier in the week, the Texans had already waived linebacker Zach Cunningham after he'd fallen out of favor with coaches and management. So with the Grugier-Hill injury, the Texans are thinner at linebacker than they were a week ago.
Grugier-Hill, who set the franchise record with 19 tackles in last week's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, entered this Seahawks game as the team's leading tackler with 88. Cunningham, who was claimed off waivers last week by the Tennessee Titans, had been the Texans' second-leading tackler with 67.
The Texans are now going with rookie linebacker Garret Wallow in Grugier-Hill's place. Neville Hewitt is taking Cunningham's place.
