The Houston Texans are bringing back cornerback Vernon Hargreaves on a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.
Hargreaves, 25, started every game last season for a secondary decimated by injuries.
Details of the deal were not immediately available.
This will be Hargreaves' third season with the team after being claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. The Bucs drafted Hargreaves in the first round in 2016 after he was an All-American at the University of Florida.
Hargreaves was one of only three Texans players to intercept a pass last season, along with J.J. Watt and Bradley Roby.
The Texans' defense ranked 29th in pass DVOA, according to Pro Football Outsiders, which measures efficiency in defending the pass.
Hargreaves was supposed to be the Texans' slot corner, but was thrusted into a starting role opposite Roby because Gareon Conley remained sidelined after ankle surgery.
Roby was left home for one game in Jacksonville for disciplinary reasons and suspended the final five games of the season for violating the league's performance enhancement drug policy, making Hargreaves the Texans' No. 1 corner toward the end of the season.
