(SportsRadio 610) -- Randall Cobb is officially headed back to the Green Bay Packers and the Texans are going to pay about a third of his salary this year.
The Packers are trading a 2022 sixth-round pick to the Texans for Cobb, now 30 entering his 11th NFL season. Cobb spent his first eight seasons in the league with the Packers before stops with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans in the past two years.
When Texans general manager Nick Caserio addressed reporters earlier Wednesday, he indicated the deal was not yet complete. But Cobb was not expected to attend Texans practice with the trade pending.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported the Texans are expected to pay $3 million of Cobb's salary to facilitate the deal, which may have been partially engineered by Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who loves Cobb.
Cobb signed a three-year, $27 million contract with $18 million guaranteed last year.
The Texans traded for former Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller over the weekend and he practiced with the team at training camp Wednesday.
Houston is likely to rely more on Miller and possibly Keke Coutee as their slot receivers.
