(SportsRadio 610) - Despite a subpar performance in his return from a hamstring injury Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, Tyrod Taylor will continue starting at quarterback for the Texans, head coach David Culley said Monday morning.

Taylor threw three interceptions, no touchdowns and went 24-for-43 and 240 passing yards in Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Dolphins.

To his credit, Taylor took ownership for his poor play after the game.

"Bad decisions. Something I need to get better at to give us an opportunity to win games. Especially on the road, turnovers are critical," Taylor said.

"It's uncharacteristic of me. But it happened today and it's something I have to clean up. And I'll do that moving forward."

The Texans are on their bye week, but Culley was asked about the starting quarterback situation once they return against the Tennessee Titans.

On Sunday after the game, Culley seemed to lean toward evaluating it over the week. By Monday morning, he was more certain.

"He's going to be better and we're going to have a chance to win if he plays like he should," the coach said.

The alternative would be going back to rookie third-round quarterback Davis Mills, who started six games while Taylor was sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Taylor is on a one-year, $5.5 million contract. Mills is on a four-year contract worth $5.22 million.
