Rosedale’s 6th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival – Arts in RPS

The Rosedale Civic Association, in celebration of our 50+ Yoshino
cherry trees, will hold its sixth annual Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, March
27 th , 2021. The Festival will be held on the front lawn of Linwood Holton Elementary
School, located at 1600 W. Laburnum Ave. The event will run from 11am to 3pm.
We are excited to announce the Art Mobile from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
will be on site for free tours. This 78’ vehicle houses works of art from the Museum’s
permanent collection, featuring the new exhibition A View from Home: Landscapes
of Virginia. This exhibition of paintings, photographs, woodblock prints and
engravings explores the diversity and beauty of the Commonwealth’s natural
landscape. The works showcase artists of various styles and periods, including
Adele Clark, Miwako Nishizawa, Hullihen Williams Moore, George H Benjamin
Johnson, and others.
The celebration kicks off early with the comedy, magic and skills of Jonathan the
Juggler. Also featured will be live music, provided by local groups The Neons & The
Wrong Worshippers; food, by Jus’ Cuk’n Barbecue. Other assorted treats will be
available for purchase as well. A limited craft market will also be on site, selling a
variety of items, and free take-home items. Admission to the event is free.
To keep everyone safe, this event will observe strict CDC safety protocols. Masks
are required. Tours in the VMFA Art Mobile are limited to groups of nine; families
will stay together as a group. The interior is sanitized between each group. Hand
sanitizers will be stationed throughout the site, and social distancing will be
monitored.
