Boy Saves Family from Fire
Wicker & Wilde

Wicker and Wilde share incredible stories that make us all remember that even in the face of destruction there is a silver lining and that family is important. This is another Feel Good on the :50's.

A Tennessee boy is being hailed a hero today for saving his family from a house fire. Last week, nine-year-old Tristan Cook was sitting with his three siblings — ages seven, five, and three — watching TV in the living room of their McEwen home when he heard a noise in the next room. "I heard this pop noise in the office room and I smelled smoke," explains Tristan. (Video below)

So he went to investigate and found the room was on fire. "It scared me bad," he says. Tristan then ran to get his mother, Tracy, who was napping. "He came running down the hall screaming, 'Mom, there's a fire. Mom, there's a fire.'" The whole house was engulfed in flames in just a few minutes, but because Tristan had noticed something and warned his family all of the Cooks made it outside safely.

The home was completely destroyed, but the family plans to rebuild and they’re just thankful that no one was hurt. "But if anything had happened to them, I wouldn't be able to wake up," Tracey says. The fire is believed to have been the result of an electrical short. And although the family has lost all their belongings, including their Christmas gifts, they are thankful to have each other and people in their community have already contacted them offering to help.
