2020 ACM Awards: Maren Morris Hopes to Bring Vegas Flare to Nashville

The 'Female Artist of The Year' nominee gushes over her ACM venue

Maren Morris is hoping to bring a Las Vegas flare to tonight’s 55th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, in Nashville. The show moved venues from Sin City to Nashville due COVID-19 concerns. Morris joked with RADIO.COM’s Katie Neal about bringing a slice of Vegas to the country capital of the world.

“We were joking that we could make it feel like Vegas,” she said. “Maybe after the awards we could come home, light some cigarettes and candles, do some blackjack and burn all our money.”

Morris will join other big name artists and perform the single "To Hell & Back," from the Ryman Auditorium. It’s a venue that holds emotional significance for Maren. “I feel like one of the lucky ones. I get to perform at the Ryman. It’s one of my favorite venues in the world. It’s the mother church,” she said. “I feels like we’re coming home.”

Just like everyone else, Maren is eager to break from her quarantine dwellings. Wednesday marks her first awards show performance since giving birth to her son, Hayes Andrew Hurd, in late March. “Especially after having a kid a few months ago. It’s like ‘Oh, I’ll definitely get dressed and go perform to a room of no one.’”

The triple-threat artist is nominated for two awards, including Album of The Year and Female Artist of The Year. She already picked up a win for Music Event of The Year, for a collaboration with Miranda Lambert, Ashley McBryde, Tenille Townes, Caylee Hammack and Elle King on the single "Fooled Around and Fell in Love."

The 55TH Academy of Country Music Awards hosted by Keith Urban airs September 16, 8PM ET on CBS.
