‘Rugrats’ revival series with original voice cast heading to Paramount Plus

Everybody’s favorite cartoon babies are back with a new revival of beloved animated series “Rugrats."

Nickelodeon and ViacomCBS announced the highly-anticipated CG-animated reboot will premiere on the new streaming service Paramount Plus in 2021, Variety reported.

Although the animation may look different, the voices should sound the same. Tommy Pickles, Chuckie Finster, and Angelica Pickles will be played by the original voice stars, E.G. Daily, Nancy Cartwright (who also voices Bart Simpson on "The Simpsons"), and Cheryl Chase.

Also returning are Cree Summer as Susie Carmichael, and Kath Soucie as Phill and Lil DeVille.

Nickelodean Animation Studio, who is producing the revival, plans to follow the toddlers as “they explore the world and beyond from their pint-sized and wildly imaginative point-of-view,” the outlet added.

“Rugrats is one of the most iconic cartoons recognized by fans around the globe, and this original version is one we are taking great care and pride in creating for a brand-new audience,” said Ramsey Naito, president of Nickelodeon Animation.

“Having the voice cast behind these special characters come together is one of the essential pieces to making the show recognizable and we can’t wait to watch this talented group bring them to life again.”

The hugely successful original “Rugrats” aired from 1991 to 2004.

The show, which follows the adorable adventures of toddlers who find themselves in sticky situations when the parents look away, ran for 13 years and earned four Daytime Emmys and six Kids’ Choice Awards.
