Janet Jackson is ready to share a new album for the first time in 5 years, and it’s coming soon to a city near you. On Monday, Jackson revealed that she will kick off the Black Diamond World Tour in June, named after her upcoming new album set to be released soon.
“I’ve heard all your wishes and now from my lips to your ears. I’m working on my new album and going on a brand new World Tour this summer! Both titled ‘Black Diamond,’” she explained on Instagram. “Black Diamonds are the toughest of all the diamonds, the hardest to cut. I see that as the hardest to hurt or destroy. There is a lot that I have endured. I see myself as a Black Diamond in its purest form. I’m a rock, I have ruff edges but I keep moving forward. I want to show you my strength as well as give you strength.”
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Thursday February 13. You can find more information of tickets here.
In addition to teasing new music from Black Diamond, the tour also promises a special performance of Rhythm Nation. The landmark album from Jackson was released in 1989, and celebrated 30 years in September. It was followed by Jackson’s first-ever World Tour in 1990.
