Soundtracked by several of her recent hits, the IGTV clip the usually private star shared on New Years day, touches on the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of voting in the presidential election, while also celebrating the success of her Disney+ film Black Is King, as well as her her record-setting 2021 GRAMMY nominations, just to name a few.
Bey also celebrated her eldest daughter’s accomplishments, as Blue’s narration of Hair Love featured in the clip, as most definitely one the high points of the year.
Bey’s twins Rumi and Sir even made a rare appearance, featured alongside the multi-hyphenate superstar riding around on a golf cart. With Rumi seen bopping along to “Savage Remix,” her mama’s chart-topping track with Megan Thee Stallion. Beyoncé then asks her youngest daughter, “How did you feel about summer this year? Did you have a good summer?,” as Sir sat on her lap.
Bey captioned the video with a reassuring message to her Beyhive.
“2020 divided us and united us. Most could not see loved ones and we felt too many losses, but we were united by our humanity.” She went on, “This year for me has been about celebrating joy, chasing happiness, and living in love.”
“As we all look forward and pray for new beginnings, my wish for you is that you honor yourself and those you love. Celebrate that you are an important individual who contributes to our beautiful collective. Here’s to a better and brighter 2021!”
