Jaleel White stole the hearts of many playing the role of everyone’s favorite dorky kid on the classic sitcom “Family Matters.”

The classic show ran for a triumphant nine seasons while White played the famous Steve Urkel.

In an upcoming interview on TVOne’s “Uncensored,” the 44-year-old shared that the main cast of the family sitcom didn’t exactly give him a warm welcome on set.

“I was not welcomed to the cast at all. They know what it was,” White said. “I didn’t think anything of it, being cast to be on 'Family Matters,' because it was supposed to be a guest spot, one and done.”

While he is now known as the main character, White didn’t appear on the ABC sitcom until the 12th episode of the first season. During the beginning stages of the show, White was initially set to make a guest appearance. However, he got the full-time role after audience members loved the character.

The show “Family Matters” focuses on a middle-class suburban Chicago Black family that deals with misadventures, many of which are caused by their ultra-nerd next-door neighbor, Steve Urkel. The quirky-yet-lovable character is known for his insanely high-pitched voice, high-rise suspenders, and retro glasses.
