Audacy host Brad Steiner welcomed Aussie singer and songwriter Vance Joy to a happy crowd of fans gathered at the Hard Rock Hotel in New York City to celebrate the release of his third studio album, In Our Own Sweet Time, which will be on shelves and streaming June 10.
Before giving fans a live taste of what's on the new release, featuring his latest single "Clarity," Vance tells us the writing of his new album, In Our Own Sweet Time, "was a new experience," he says due to the prevalence of COVID in all of our lives during its inception. "In that vacation, luckily I wasn't hit too hard by it and I was just living at home. I did Zoom songwriting sessions, a couple every month, and over those [sessions], I accumulated 12 songs. I wasn't even really thinking, 'I'm gonna finish an album, it has to be finished by a certain time' -- I was in a good rhythm, I think."
In Our Own Sweet Time track listing:
Way That I'm Going
Every Side of You
Looking at Me Like That
Vance also took some time to live in Spain for a year, another reason he feels this new record will hold a special place. "I don't speak Spanish very well at all," he says, "so I wasn't reading the news, and I think that helps... I had no idea what was going on! All good, if you read the news, I just didn't have that option. So, I wasn't getting too bummed about stuff.... I was very fortunate."
Vance is currently set for a release concert tonight in Toronto before heading home down under for some Australian shows into November. But Vance will be hitting the road in 2023 to support the new release, with dates scheduled to begin in February, before heading back overseas for a limited number of shows already set in Europe.
