Grab your party hats and noisemakers -- The Strokes have announced their first New Year’s Eve bash in two years, scheduled for December 31 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in the band’s home turf of New York City.
British rockers Idles, and Spanish indie darlings Hinds will provide opening duties.
Tickets for the special New Year's Eve concert will go on sale to the general public at 10:00 AM ET on October 29. Click here for details.
The last time The Strokes held a New Year’s Eve shindig, they debuted their 2019 single “Ode to the Mets” which would later appear on their 2020 Best Rock Album GRAMMY-winning release The New Abnormal.
Back in late 2020, singer Julian Casablancas confirmed to Audacy that he’s sitting on tons of new music, so fans could reasonably expect a few surprises as they ring in the new year with the band in Brooklyn this December.
In a glorious occurrence of synchronicity (or really good marketing), Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. just happened to release his own wine seltzer this week, called Jetway, with two flavor offerings. The band also celebrated a full 20 years since the triumphant drop of their debut album Is This It over the summer, and has been tapped to open up for the Red Hot Chili Peppers on select dates during their 2022 tour which kicks off in July.
