HOME SCHOOLED: Green Day Offer a Drum Lesson and Exclusive At-Home Performance of 'Graffitia'

Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool serving up songs from their new album

Green Day is better at social distancing than most of us, still rocking in their respective homes and giving the world some much needed entertainment during this pandemic.

Both Billie Joe Armstrong and Tré Cool wanted to contribute to RADIO.COM’s “Home Schooled” series, where artists share lessons about what they’ve learned while staying safely inside. Both also turned it up louder than anyone else.

For Armstrong, he picked up the guitar and delivered an exclusive, uncensored performance of Father Of All… album closer, “Graffitia,” powering through a brief lapse in remembering the lyrics and delivering an awesome acoustic version of the song.

You can watch the full performance from Billie Joe Armstrong above.

Tré Cool literally took us to school, giving a quick lesson on how to play the title track from the band’s new album. Behind the kit, Cool goes off, and if you can keep up you might just learn a thing or two.

"While we've all been in quarantine I've been reflecting on the things that matter the most in my life," Armstrong said last week. "Family, friends and of course music." The frontman will be debuting a new cover song every Monday for as long as this lasts from inside his home. As you can see from above, the originals are pretty perfect too.

Green Day released Father Of All.. in February, and plan to hit the road for the HELLA MEGA tour in stadiums across the country this summer with Weezer and Fall Out Boy.

“We wanted to do something that was kind of like a ‘Monsters Of Rock’ kind of feel to it,” Armstrong told RADIO.COM last year. “We got the ‘Monsters Of Insects’ tour” he laughed.
