Mark Hoppus Surprised by Miley Cyrus and Blink-182 Collaboration Leak

The singer confirms the song that surfaced this week

It’s a pairing that you would probably never think of, but like peanut butter and pickles, a mash-up of Miley Cyrus and blink-182 has leaked with surprising results.

A blink-182 fan account recently posted a clip of what seems to be Miley singing over one of the band’s latest tracks off NINE, “I Really Wish I Hated You.”

Listen to a snippet right here:

In the post, the user explains:

“Some of you might remember that in several interviews blink-182 stated that this song was the hardest one to complete on 'NINE' and went through about five different iterations. It is possible that at a certain point during the recording process Miley Cyrus was involved in some capacity."

It’s possible this idea was only in the planning stages with Cyrus’ vocals serving in a demo role, but the collaboration is interesting, to say the least and not at all out of character for Cyrus, who has dabbled in Alternative before.

Hoppus was asked about the existence of the track in a recent Twitch livestream, and seemed to be surprised by the question.

“Huh. Did it leak? I will be right back and we’ll talk about this,” he said. “I don’t know what the story is with… well I know exactly what the story is with the Miley Cyrus version of 'I Really Wish I Hated You.' But I did not realize that it was in the world. So, I am trying to find out answers.”

He followed up later confirming the track: “She sang on a version of ‘I Really Wish I Hated You’ and apparently it leaked.”

You can see Hoppus’ reaction below in a tweet posted by what seems to be the same fan account that dropped the leak.

While you’re at it, watch Mark Hoppus fiddle around with some old blink-182 songs in a previous livestream with his son Jack.
