Brad Shultz from Cage The Elephant joined RADIO.COM for another special FANDEMIC Instagram Live on Monday, answering your questions as we all stay connected during this time of social distancing.
The GRAMMY-winning guitarist talked about his influences from Bowling Green, the origin of parts of their latest LP, and he even debuted some new music. We also got a cameo from his daughter, who sneaked into the shot to talk with Dad and give us an amazing unicorn drawing.
"With our music we just kinda write what we're going through and hopefully it translates in a lot of different ways for people," shared Shultz. "We're not necessarily out there to preach a message or anything, we just give people perspective from the things that we've been through, and that always connects in a lot of different ways for the different walks of life that people have went through."
Brad and the whole band have been working on new music during this time, with Shultz even sharing with us a new riff he's been working on, that you can hear in the video above.
"I've been working on a bunch of new music," he confessed. "We all are. That's something that's gonna be a big positive in this whole situation, is that we actually are getting to spend a lot more time with our families, and also we're getting to write some new music."
Cage The Elephant is coming off of back-to-back wins for Best Rock Album at the GRAMMY Awards, as the group’s fifth studio album, Social Cues, finds the Bowling Green band turning personal pain into absolutely triumph.
“It’s confirmation that the music is connecting with people in some sense,” Brad told RADIO.COM last year after news of the nomination. “It’s a blessing. But everything is. It’s kind of all connected.”
