Watch The Killers come out of their cage on 'Monday Night Football'

The hometown band welcomed Vegas' new hometown NFL team

“Hello, we’re The Killers and it’s our pleasure to welcome the Raiders to Las Vegas, Nevada. I think we’ve got just the song for the occasion”

That was frontman Brandon Flowers’ opening remarks as he and the rest of The Killers gave the Raiders a Las Vegas style welcome during halftime of the team’s home opener in their inaugural season in the city.

The Vegas natives were in the national spotlight and delivered a fantastic performance of their hit song “Mr. Brightside.” The band was perched high atop the Vegas Strip as their performance was shown on video screens across iconic casinos.

The Killers recently contributed a remix alongside Jacques Lu Cont of The Rolling Stones song “Scarlet,” which comes as part of the band’s extensive reissue of their album Goats Head Soup.

“Scarlet” has built quite the generational bridge between rock acts as it originally featured contributions from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and the late Traffic/Blind Faith bassist Rick Grech.

The Stones, Led Zeppelin, and The Killers all connected together through one song? That’s a pretty strong stable of rock artists.

As we dig into the band’s recent “Monday Night Football” performance and their “Scarlet” remix, we can look forward to new music from the Vegas outfit. Brandon Flowers recently confirmed the band has been working on a follow up to their recently released record Imploding the Mirage and anticipates it will be released in the next 10 months.

“You know when someone makes a record and they say that they have 50 songs and they’re going to release another record? Well, we really are!” Flowers said at the time.
