Aerosmith Is Celebrating 50th Anniversary at Fenway Park

Boston proud for half a century

It’s hard to believe Aerosmith has been around for five decades, but a quick check of the math confirms 2020 – 1970 = 50. And the band is ready to celebrate every one of those years during an anniversary show at Fenway Park.

Aerosmith is making plans to mark half a century as a band at their venerable hometown ballpark on September 18th. Fellow locals Extreme will open the show. Tickets go on sale to the public on January 31st.

The Fenway concert is Aerosmith’s only U.S. tour date in 2020 as of now outside of their ongoing Las Vegas residency. It runs from January 29th through June 4th on select dates. The band will also tour Europe in June and July.

Aerosmith was honored with the 2020 MusiCares Person of the Year award before the GRAMMYS over the weekend and followed with a performance that featured a reunion with Run-DMC.

Longtime drummer Joey Kramer accepted the MusiCares award with the band, but he did not perform during the tribute concert or the awards ceremony.
It remains to be seen whether he will return for Vegas, Europe or Fenway.

Kramer filed a lawsuit that claimed he was unfairly excluded from rejoining Aerosmith after he recovered from reported shoulder and foot injuries. The other band members contend his drumming is not up to par yet, but Kramer insists he’s ready to go.
