Rod Stewart says Elton John is not ready to end their feud

'We don't talk to each other anymore'

After all these years, why stop now?

Rod Stewart and Elton John have maintained a feud that has stretched back decades. Will 2020 be the year it finally ends? Unlikely.

Stewart was a guest on Chris EvansHow To Wow podcast and claimed he reached out to John in an attempt to reconcile only to be ignored.

“We don’t talk to each other anymore. Big falling out,” Stewart said. “Last time I emailed him I said, ‘I’ve got this football pitch, would you like the boys to come up?’ You know, ’cause they both love football.”

Stewart says the invite was extended to John’s two sons Zachary and Elijah as well, but he claims John didn’t reply to his email.

Back in 2018, Stewart appeared as a guest on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and slammed John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour that the singer was using to promote his retirement.

“It’s dishonest, it’s not rock ‘n’ roll,” he said.

Stewart was asked his thoughts about John’s retirement and said, “I did email her [Elton] and said, ‘What, again dear?’ And, I didn’t hear anything back.”

“I’ve never spoken about retirement, and if I do retire, I won’t make an announcement. I’ll just fade away.”

Stewart also said “it stinks of selling tickets.”

Regardless of Stewart’s thoughts on the matter, John was forced to postpone his farewell tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He recently announced rescheduled dates that will see the tour resume in North America in January, 2022 before wrapping up in April, 2022.
