It’s almost here! The 2021 Academy of Country Music Awards are a few days away and we are losing sleep thinking about who will walk away with the prestigious Entertainer of the Year (EOTY) award. Will it be another tie? Will it be a repeat winner? We’re dying to know!

While the actual winner is voted on by ACM professional membership, we’re here to give our two cents and share why we think each nominee deserves the prize.

Although he may look like an average guy, Chris Stapleton is far from it. He’s been around the Country music world long before his artist career even took off in 2015 writing hits for other artists like Kenny Chesney and fellow nominee, Luke Bryan.

A list of reasons why he deserves this award could seriously go on for decades. A mega talented singer, songwriter and musician, we’re thinking it would probably be easier (and faster) to list the things he can’t do… oh wait, we got nothin’.

Since the release of his debut album, Traveller, in 2015, fans have been captivated by his voice, which is in a category all its own. Whether he’s wailing the high notes or telling a story in the lower-register, he demands listeners’ attention through his jaw-dropping talent.

While 2020 was a tough year for Stapleton not being able to see fans in person through touring, it didn’t stop him from releasing some incredible new music. During countless months of quarantine, Stapleton turned to what he knew best to give him hope and purpose - songwriting.

He booked the Muscle Shoals sound studio in Alabama to help him focus on his creative ideas, and the result was an incredible new album that encouraged fans to “start over” after a troubling year.

“In my life when I’ve needed strength, love, peace, joy, friendship, focus, courage, understanding, hope, or healing I’ve found these things in music,” Stapleton shared in an Instagram post ahead of the new album’s release date. “As you listen, I pray you find some of these things here. May we all look to the best of who we’ve been & the promise of who we can be. Here’s to starting over.”

Fans were quick to take Stapleton’s advice and he reaped the benefits just last week when the single hit #1. The title track isn’t the only thing making Stapleton fans smile these days. A recent collaboration featuring Chris and his wife, Morgane, alongside actor and comedian Leslie Jordan has gained lots of attention as the three sing their version of the old hymn, “Farther Along.”

Stapleton is as humble as they come and we can’t wait to see how things pan out this weekend. In the meantime, you can find us belting out our favorite Stapleton tunes, wishing we had an ounce of the talent he has.
