Maren Morris leads everyone this year when it comes to nominations at the 2019 CMA Awards, and she's already a winner. The GIRL singer announced that she’s having a baby boy last month and of course the Country community to ready to pitch in with advice.
Backstage at the CMAs, Country’s biggest stars were eager to offer advice to Morris and her husband Ryan Hurd. But before we can even get to sleep schedules and changing techniques, we got to talk about the name.
“It sounds like people are already putting names in the hat for our future child,” Maren says in the exclusive RADIO.COM video above. She’s right. Just about everyone on their way to the CMAs shared their suggestion for what to called Nashville’s newest star. “I’d love to hear them,” she adds, unaware of the quality of names coming in.
“Rimshot is a good one for a boy,” Tyler Farr tells us. “Frito Lay. Lay would be the middle name. First name Frito” the “Redneck Crazy” singer continues. “Oprah is always good.”
“Oprah Hurd?” Ryan responded when we passed the suggestion along. “It’s a boy,” he added, bewildered.

“What’s his last name gonna be?” wonder the members of Parmalee. “Is it going to be Morris or Hurd? If it’s Morris I would say name it's Boris. Boris Morris.”
“I’ve got suggestions of what not to call it,” Garth Brooks chimes in. The “Dive Bar” singer hopes Maren and Ryan avoid some of the struggles he has faced throughout his life. “Don’t give the kids name Garth. It’s just not good.”
“Brooks, that’s a great name for a boy or a girl right there.”
You can see everyone’s suggestion in the video above, from Kelsea Ballerini to Lady Antebellum and beyond. There’s a few to add to the list, but Sam Hunt seems to think they’ve got it covered. “Maren and Ryan, I’m not gonna give you any suggestions on baby names. I’m sure you guys will come up with something perfect,” he says sweetly.
They’ve got some time to figure things out. In the meantime check out Maren at the 2019 CMA Awards, happening on Wednesday November 13 at 8PM ET / 7PM CT on ABC. Be sure to check out our coverage hosted by Luke Combs, including the CMA Red Carpet Countdown one hour before the show starts, right here and on the RADIO.COM app.
