Hootie & the Blowfish singer Darius Rucker has taken to Instagram to announce his split from wife Beth Leonard after 20 years of marriage.
The photo features Rucker and Leonard at the CMA Awards in 2017. "Beth and I would like to share that after much reflection we have made the decision to consciously uncouple," the accompanying caption reads.
We remain close friends and parenting partners and continue to be each other's biggest cheerleaders. Our priority will always be our beautiful family," Rucker continues.
The couple, who were married in 2000, share 19-year-old daughter Daniella and 15-year-old son Jack. Rucker also has a 25-year-old daughter named Carolyn from a previous marriage.
"We have so much love in our hearts for each other and will continue to encourage growth and expansion in one another. Please be kind as we take on this journey, and we thank you for your love and support always," the post concludes.
Rucker and Leonard met in 1998 while Leonard was working for VH1 in NYC. Rucker was in town with Hootie & the Blowfish and had been trying relentlessly to get Leonard to go out with him, he told The Boot in 2010.
Rucker announced this week that he would be hosting a virtual Darius & Friends concert this month. The proceeds would benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.
"It may not be in person, but Darius & Friends...is on," Rucker shared on Instagram.
