Kane Brown Calls for Cops After Shots Fired in Backyard

'Someone help! I'm lost'

You may have heard the story of Country music sweetheart Kane Brown getting lost on his own Tennessee property for a few hours last month, the day he and wife Katelyn moved into their new house – but the real story is a bit scarier in Kane’s words.

“Yeah, we got lost for seven hours,” Kane told Extra during an interview at the end of July. “We have 30 acres and it’s all woods. We made our own trail and then it started raining,” Brown explained at the time. “We ran into a drop-off, so we ended up having to call the cops and walk down.”

“Kate thought I was just trying to get out of unpacking boxes.”

Brown decided to clarify the situation after people online started poking fun at him for getting lost on his own land.

“ALL JOKES ASIDE. The real story is I moved into a new house. I own 30 acres of 3000 around me. I told my wife I wanted to go check out the property I’ll be 30 minutes,” he explained on Facebook. “I went with my friend and his girl. I was in shorts and a t shirt.”

Kane says over the next few hours, the temperature dropped and it started to rain. In their attempts to leave the area, the GPS system was taking them where their truck couldn’t go, so he called in a lifeline. Songwriter Ryan Upchurch showed up with a friend, and that made five lost friends in the woods.

That's when things got hairy. "He has 4 other friends riding around in a canam and they start getting shot at," Brown remembers. "My buddy’s girl who has asthma started then freaking out. We HAD to get her out. So we call the cops."

When the police arrived at their location, they heard the same gunshots and believed it was Kane’s party doing the shooting. "We yell at them and tell them we are not armed and made it out," Brown says. Although, he likes the story of simply getting lost a lot better.

Aside from moving into the new home, Kane has kept quite busy over the last few months, dropping a new song with Khalid & Swae Lee, a new video with Nelly, retooling his hit "Homesick" to support first responders, and of course, getting to know his brand new daughter, Kingsley Rose.
