The 2019 CMA Awards have more hosts than ever, so we felt like we should go out and get a host of our own. That’s why we invited Luke Combs to lead our coverage of the 53rd annual event, asking Country music’s biggest stars everything we need to know.
This year Carrie Underwood is joined by Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton, as the three host a tribute to the legendary women of Country music. With a big opening number, a spotlight on the next generation of female artists, and an overall focus on the fiercest among us, it’s sure to be a giant night in Nashville.
“I have a question for you,” Luke Combs asks in the exclusive clip from RADIO.COM, posing his question to Carrie. “This will be your twelfth year hosting the CMAs. What’s the one thing that gets better every year, and one thing that gets worse?”
“The comfort level gets better,” Underwood answers. “You kinda realize your role in the whole situation. Sometimes in the beginning I remember things would kinda be coming together last minute and everybody’s panicked and is like ‘oh my gosh we’re never gonna get this’ and ‘what’s gonna happen? We don’t know.’ Now we’re like, ‘meh, we’re fine.’”
“It’s just a little, knowing what you’re capable of, and we’re gonna pull it off.”

Carrie continues to explain that nothing has gotten worse, but there is an effort to always “stay fresh” and find a new angle. “That’s harder, to stay fresh but, it’s all good.”
There’s definitely a new angle on deck this year, as everyone we’ve talked with can’t wait for the celebration of women in Country music at the 2019 CMA Awards. It all starts on Wednesday November 13 at 8PM ET / 7PM CT on ABC.
