Throughout the month of March, we're celebrating the Leading Ladies of Country music with special interviews and performances from some of the biggest female names in the genre.
In honor of Women’s History Month, we're celebrating the power of Women in Country by honoring iconic heritage female artists, showcasing the genre's rising stars, and spotlighting today’s hit female artists. Today we welcome Cam! Don't miss her full interview and performance of "Till There’s Nothing Left" above!
Alongside accomplished singers like Trisha Yearwood and Ashley McBryde, Cam is well known in the industry as a cheerleader for the many females making their way in Country music. "As you grow up, and maybe your experience in the business makes it feel this way too," she says her own musical influences can range from new singer/songwriters to older and established favorites.
"Right now, it's Rissi Palmer," says Cam. "Country music has sort of been known for not having a lot of Black women being able to get in the door. She left because it was a rough go of it, and came back and just did the Opry last week. She has a podcast show just talking about all of these incredible voices that we want to start including in this space, and that make it richer."
Cam says of Rissi, "what she's doing with her music, and outside of her music, and around her music makes me so happy. Because that's what Country music is -- it's just this whole host of stories and this group of people all trying to live our lives and figure it out."
