The Zac Brown Band is back, and ready to get real.

The Owl is the sixth studio album from the band, and it finds the Atlanta outfit digging deep into personal experiences and exploring new sounds with a few unexpected collaborators. The group has never been afraid to step across genre-lines, but on The Owl they obliterate expectations by collaborating with EDM pioneer Skrillex and pop mega-producer Max Martin. Elsewhere Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder, and Shawn Mendes lend their talent behind the scenes too.

“We are always pushing ourselves as musicians by blurring genre boundaries and incorporating all kinds of music we are personally inspired by, elevating what we are capable as a group” Zac Brown shares in a statement. “This album will have something for everyone, The Owl is exciting, raw, and unexpected. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished on this record and can’t wait to finally share it with the fans.”

The band promises to get personal on The Owl, tapping into some recent life experiences, including a divorce for the frontman in 2018. It’s reflected in “Leaving Love Behind”, released this week.

According to a release, the title for The Owl is inspired by, “the lore surrounding the great horned owl, which can see perfectly at night, making it a reliable guide, even during dark times.”

Zac Brown Band is currently on The Owl Tour in support of the upcoming album. You can find the full list of upcoming dates here.

The Owl arrives on September 20.
