The 56-year-old actress helped Rowan, 18, move into her college dorm room as the young woman prepared for her freshman year.

“My unique and extraordinary baby girl spreading her wings. I love you so. We are so proud of you,” the proud mom captioned the post that included several videos and photos of the family’s trip to the college.

The collage of snaps included some adorable moments of the mother and daughter posing in Rowan’s new dorm room.

“This was the saddest drive away from anywhere I’ve ever had to make,” Shields added. “But my baby is BEGINNING one of the most important adventures of her life to date…NOW!”

Recently, at her daughter’s prom, Shields took to Instagram to share a sweet picture of herself in New York City with with the 18-year old wearing a strapless red dress that may look familiar to Golden Globes fans.

The actress wore the gown to the 1998 awards, nominated for her role in the NBC sitcom “Suddenly Susan.”

“I thought it was a special night when I was nominated for a Golden Globe and wore this dress in 1998, but nothing could have prepared me to see my daughter wearing it to her prom,” she wrote, before declaring herself a “proud mama!”

Rowan gave the dress a fresh update, choosing to forgo the wrap her famous mom wore on the red carpet and pairing it with a neutral lip and loose waves instead of the Veronica Lake-inspired curls and red lipstick that completed Shields’ ensemble 23 years ago.
