WATCH: Chris Meloni calls out to Mariska Hargitay in new ‘Law & Order’ promo

Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson’s long-awaited reunion is even closer to coming to fruition.

With the “Law & Order” crossover event scheduled for April 1st, NBC has released a new promo that appears to show the lead up to the first time the characters will be on screen together in a decade, reported TVLine.

The clip begins with a “Law & Order: SVU” flashback to when Mariska Hargitay’s Benson first learned Stabler (played by Christopher Meloni) had “put his papers in” to retire from the NYPD.

The promo then flashes ahead to April 1st where we find Benson at a crime scene surrounded by various first responders as Stabler calls out to his former partner.

“Liv!” Stabler’s voice is heard as Benson slowly turns with an exasperated look and responds, “Elliot.” OMG!!!

The two actors have remained friends in real life, but have not shared the screen since 2011.

Meloni recently opened up about what it was like to step back into the character alongside Hargitay.

"It was Pavlovian: Ring that bell, and you get right into Stabler and Benson," the actor said.

Meloni’s upcoming spin-off, “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” will follow as Stabler returns to the NYPD after suffering a devastating loss to battle the city’s notorious crime syndicates.

Meloni portrayed Stabler alongside Hargitay on "SVU" for 12 seasons before his character retired and was written out of the show in 2011.

The reunion will begin April 1st at 9pm ET/PT when Meloni appears on an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” alongside Hargitay, who has headlined the series since its launch in 1999.

Immediately following “SVU,” NBC will premiere “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10pm ET/PT.
