Christopher Meloni put his rippling muscles on display as he started production on the second season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime.”

Meloni also gave fans a behind-the-scenes look of the “SVU” spinoff by sharing a video commemorating the first day of filming the sophomore season.
In the clip, Meloni wears a face mask as a member of the production staff goes over some of the day’s protocols. Other cast and crew members are seen in the background as a round of cheers and applause ensues to launch the start of production. At the tail end of the video, Meloni reappears to share his enthusiasm by saying, “Woop, woop!”
The actor captioned the clip simply, “L&O:OC #firstdayofschool #season2”
“For the Defense,” which was given a straight-to-series order in May, was scheduled to air on Thursdays with “Law & Order: SVU” and the recently launched “Organized Crime.”
In lieu of a third “Law & Order” series, NBC will now air “The Blacklist” at 8pm on Thursdays before “SVU” and “Organized Crime.”
Mariska Hargitay, who is currently recovering from a broken ankle, will return for the 23rd season of “SVU,” which is set to premiere with a special two-hour episode on September 23.
The second season of “Law & Order: Organized Crime” will premiere immediately following “SVU” at 10pm ET/PT.
