Bruce Kirby, best known for his portrayal of Sgt. George Kramer on the hit NBC series "Columbo" has died at the age of 95.
Kirby was also father to Bruno Kirby, known for his roles in "The Godfather: Part II," "When Harry Met Sally," and "City Slickers." Bruno passed away in 2006 at the age of 57 from leukemia.
Alongside "Columbo," Kirby also starred in other projects such as "Stand by Me," "Throw Momma From a Train," "Kojak," and "Shannon." He was known for playing authority figures during his time as an actor.
Kirby's Sgt. Kramer was a character who constantly fell for the killer's alibi. Kirby appeared in 9 episodes of the show which spanned over more than two decades.
Kirby is survived by his son, John, and his wife, Roz.
John wrote, "Thank you Dad for everything you taught me about acting and how to have such a strong work ethic while sharing your love for the arts and the craft of it all. I will miss you and love you always. I’m glad you're up there with Bruno and so many of our loved ones."
