Disney has released a full trailer for the upcoming live-action biopic film “Cruella” staring Emma Stone as the legendary, and notorious villainess.
The film focuses on the backstory of the revenge-bent and notoriously fashionable Cruella de Vil set in the punk-rock era of 1970s London.
Stone transforms into her character sporting the classic two-toned messy hair, smokey black eye makeup, her signature beauty mark and of course, black lip stick.
The actress uses a British accent and explains in a raspy voice-over, “Everyone was always scared that I’d be a psycho.” “How does the saying go?” Stone asks. “I am woman, hear me roar.”
The new trailer reveals that Stone has mastered Cruella de Vil’s signature and terrifying laugh that is sure to trigger the nostalgia of an older audience.
Stone is starring alongside two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”), who plays fashion legend Baroness von Hellman.
Disney’s “Cruella” is directed by Craig Gillespie (“I Tonya”) and produced by Andrew Gunn (“Freaky Friday”), Marc Platt (“Mary Poppins Returns”) and Kristin Burr (“Christopher Robin”) with Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff and Glenn Close serving as executive producers, Disney has reported with the release of the trailer.
The artistic and elaborate costumes are designed by two-time Academy Award winning designer Jenny Veavan (“Mad Max: Fury Road,” “A Room with a View.”).
The film hits theaters May 28, 2021.
