“Jeopardy!” may have found its new permanent host.

According to Variety, Mike Richards, the game show’s executive producer, is in advanced negotiations to take over as the show’s master of ceremonies.

While not confirming if Richards was officially set to take over as host, a Sony Pictures spokesman said talks were ongoing with several different potential candidates, the outlet noted.

Another source told Variety that Richards was a “front-runner” but other individuals were still “in the mix.”

While not a household name, Richards previously hosted shows such as “Beauty and the Geek” and the 2012 revival of “The Pyramid.” In addition to “Jeopardy!,” he has also executive produced “Wheel of Fortune” and “The Price Is Right.”

Since Alex Trebek’s death in November, “Jeopardy!” has enlisted a roster of celebrity guest hosts to take their place behind the podium.

The list of guest hosts has included Mayim Bialik, Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Ken Jennings, George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and Aaron Rodgers.

Fan-favorite LeVar Burton recently finished his run as guest host and previously said he would be “hurt” if he didn’t get the gig on a permanent basis.

"It will hurt. I'm not going to lie," Burton said. "But if that happens, I will get over it. I will be fine. Remember: Everything happens perfectly and for a reason. That is my default. It's all going to be OK. Because it always is."
