Leonardo DiCaprio Admits He Was 'Starstruck' Working with Luke Perry

Even Oscar winners like Leonardo DiCaprio can be fanboys!

The 44-year-old fondly recalled being taken aback by working with late “Riverdale” star Luke Perry on their latest movie “Once Upon a Time in America.”

"I grew up with him on '90210,' looking up to him as literally the coolest dude on earth, and honestly, when I was on set, I was starstruck." DiCaprio told “Extra” at the film’s premiere. “We got to sit down and chat. He couldn’t have been a more amazing human being. It’s a real tragic loss."

DiCaprio’s praise for his co-star didn’t end there as he went on to say Perry was “the kindest, sweetest human being you could ever encounter."

The Quentin Tarantino-directed film was Perry’s last movie role and finds him playing ‘60s TV actor Wayne Maunder, who starred as Scott Lancer on the CBS series “Lancer.”

In anticipation of the movie’s premiere, the former “Beverly Hills, 90210” star’s son Jack Perry posted a tribute to his later father.

“Big premiere tonight. He deserved this, and I’m very proud of it. A stud in life, and forever after. The best of the best. Love you forever,” the 22-year-old wrestler endearingly captioned a video of himself climbing a billboard featuring Perry’s character from the movie.

Perry died March 4 at age 52 after suffering a massive stroke.

Both “Riverdale” and the “Beverly Hills 90210” revival, “BH90210,” will honor Perry when they premiere later this year.

“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” which also stars Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, hit theaters on July 26th.
