Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler’s reunion is only weeks away. Dun-dun!
NBC has announced the date of a “Law & Order” crossover event that will reunite Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni’s beloved characters for the first time since 2011, reported Deadline.
This is no April Fools, but the long-awaited reunion will begin April 1st at 9pm ET/PT when Meloni appears on an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” alongside Hargitay, who has headlined the series since its launch in 1999.
Immediately following “SVU,” the network will premiere Meloni’s spin-off “Law & Order: Organized Crime” at 10pm ET/PT. Hargitay is also set to appear in the show’s first episode to solidify the return of Benson and Stabler.
NBC shared a teaser clip announcing the show’s premiere with the caption: “Stabler's story continues. #OrganizedCrime premieres April 1 on @NBC.”
The new series will follow as Stabler returns to the NYPD after suffering a devastating loss to battle the city’s notorious crime syndicates.
Meloni portrayed Stabler alongside Hargitay on "SVU" for 12 seasons before his character retired and was written out of the show in 2011.
While the two actors remained close friends in real life, the pair have been teasing loyal fans by sharing on-set photos during production of the crossover event.
Last month, the 57-year-old actress posted a black-and-white photo next to her 59-year-old co-star while filming at a cemetery location.
Hargitay captioned the post, "It’s all happening.”
Yes, it really is!
