Mayim Bialik is trying to leave all the “Jeopardy!” hosting drama in the past.
"I was a headline on CNN three days in a row!" Bialik joked during an appearance on “The Late Show with James Corden” on Tuesday. "Who knew that people were so passionate about who hosts Jeopardy!"
After starting her hosting duties earlier this month, the 45-year-old is concentrating on doing a good job.
"I mean, I'm just trying to read the clues, you know?” she added. “Just let me read the clues."
Bialik is also adamant that the attention stays focused on the game and not on her.
"The thing about ‘Jeopardy!’ is that we spend our whole lives wanting to be seen and this job is like… people should think the least about me as possible," she told Corden. "Meaning, it’s my job to be the host and just read the clues. But there’s certainly been a lot in the news that’s brought a lot of interest."
Despite the recent headlines, Bialik has no complaints about her new job.
"It’s incredibly enjoyable," she continued. "I learn things all day. I meet people who have a kind of knowledge that I do not possess. I would do horribly on ‘Jeopardy!,’ horribly."
After being selected as the permanent host of “Jeopardy!” in August, Richards stepped down due to controversy surrounding contentious remarks about women he made on a podcast in the past.
For the remainder of the season, Bialik and “Jeopardy!” GOAT Ken Jennings will split the hosting duties.
