Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Close Buckingham Palace Office

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s disassociation from royal life is moving along at full speed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have now closed down their office inside Buckingham Palace, reported The Daily Mail.

Unfortunately, part of that process will cost them some their livelihood as they've allegedly laid off 15 employees who worked within the office.

While some expected to obtain positions elsewhere within the palace, most are reportedly in the process of negotiating their severance packages.

“Given their decision to step back, an office at Buckingham Palace is no longer needed,” the outlet’s source said. “While the details are still being finalized and efforts are being made to redeploy people within the royal household, unfortunately there will be some redundancies.”

Apparently, Harry and Meghan broke the news to their staff in January following their bombshell revelation that they planned to step down as senior members of the royal family.

“The Duke and Duchess have a small team, less than 15 people,” the source added. “The team are very loyal to the Sussexes and understand and respect the decision they have taken.”

As part of distancing themselves, the couple is set to give up their “Royal Highness" titles and will no longer receive public funds for their royal duties.

Since their announcement, the pair have kept a relatively low profile by retreating to Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

But last week, Harry flew to Miami and took the stage at a speaking event sponsored by financial service firm JP Morgan. While it’s unclear if he was paid for the appearance, there have been rumors he’s been in talks with Goldman Sachs for future lectures, reported Page Six.

Meanwhile, it’s also been reported that Meghan is looking to reignite her Hollywood career after retiring from acting to marry into the royal family.

The world waits with bated breath for Harry and Meghan’s next chapter.
