Rebel Wilson was looking out for herself when she underwent her “Year of Health.”
The 41-year-old lost 65 pounds since the start of her weight loss journey in 2020.
During an Instagram Live, she opened up about what led to her decision to transform her body.
When a fan asked the “Pitch Perfect” star what motivated her, she explained that it was a “massive question.”
“It first started when I was looking into fertility stuff and the doctor was like, ‘Well, you’d have a much better chance if you were healthier,’” she noted.
Wilson said that the comment initially “offended” her as she considered herself to be a “pretty healthy” weight.
However, it was the catalyst for her healthy journey.
“That’s kind of what started it, that if I lost some excess weight that it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and having the eggs be a better quality,” she said, adding, “It wasn’t even really myself, it was more thinking of a future mini-me, really.”
The Australian actress previously opened up about fertility struggles.
“I got some bad news today and didn’t have anyone to share it with... but I guess I gotta tell someone,” her Instagram caption read. “To all the women out there struggling with fertility, I feel ya. The universe works in mysterious ways and sometimes it all doesn’t make sense... but I hope there’s light about to shine through all the dark clouds.”
Back in December, she told fans during an Instagram Live session that her “year of health” was largely motivated by her fertility.
“[I knew that I] wasn’t gonna maybe work that much this year,” the actress told fans on Tuesday. “I knew I was going to have a bit more time. I was also freezing my eggs because — as all good, career women out there should note — that if that’s something that interests you, it’s a pretty good time to do it.”
“I was thinking about fertility and having good quality eggs in the bank, so I was like, ‘OK, I’m going to do this. I’m going to get healthy’” Wilson shared.
Wilson sought professional assistance to help improve her eating habits and detox.
The star revealed that she had accomplished her end-of-year weight goal of 165 pounds.
Since the weight loss, she has flaunted her incredible figure on social media on several occasions.
Earlier this month, she appeared in a high school cheerleader’s costume upon completing production on her upcoming Netflix film, “Senior Year.”
