Selena Gomez Inspires Red-Hot Bikini Design

Selena Gomez is responsible for one of the most popular bathing suits of the summer.

When the “Good for You” singer’s former assistant Theresa Marie Mingus decided to start her Krahs swimwear line, Gomez offered up her help to get the brand off the ground.

“I definitely took her up on that offer and I’m just super appreciative,” Mingus told Page Six. “She has a huge platform and she was just ready to be supportive of her friend. It just shows how amazing she is as a person.”

Gomez didn’t just share images on her Instagram, the 27-year-old actually designed three pieces – the Selena Top, the Selena Bottom and the Selena One Piece - in the collection.

The Selena Bottom, which features a high-waist, is by far the bestselling swimsuit in the entire line a fact that surprised Mingus.

“I for sure thought it was going to be the string bikini, because I’ll walk around naked anywhere,” she added.  “That’s very me, but a lot of people, I’m learning, aren’t like that — like Selena.”

Turns out part of the reason Gomez went with more coverage was because of personal reasons.

“The design I did, one of them, it was the high-waisted one with the belt. I’ve had a kidney transplant, and I like bathing suits that kind of cover where that’s been and make me feel comfortable,” the “Spring Breakers” star previously said during the launch of the collection.

Now with proven success in fashion, Gomez is branching out with her own beauty line.

In July, the “Come & Get It” songstress filed a trademark on her name for a range of products including fragrances, skincare, haircare, soaps, moisturizers, cleansers and other cosmetics.
