'The View' co-host Sunny Hostin’s parents-in-law both died from COVID 3 days apart

"The View" co-host Sunny Hostin has revealed that both of her parents-in-law died from COVID-19 over the holidays.

Hostin disclosed the tragic news during Friday's episode of the daytime talk show.

“Our @sunny Hostin reveals both of her in-laws have passed away due to complication from COVID-19,” the show tweeted on Friday.

Hostin's husband, Emmanuel Hostin, lost both his parents within three days of each other.

“We are deeply saddened that Manny lost both of his parents over the holidays.  He lost his father on December 28th, and he lost his mother on New Year’s Day, both to COVID,” Hostin said fighting back tears.

Dr. Maria Jesus, age 79, and Dr. A. Emmanuel, age 83, were both physicians. Hostin said that the couple was always careful throughout the coronavirus pandemic, and even stayed home for Thanksgiving because the family felt it was unsafe.

The 52-year-old said her family has conducted “a lot of contact tracing,” but “still don’t know how they contracted this virus and this disease.”

“We want to thank the doctors and nurses that gave them such incredible care.  They are doing God’s work,” Hostin said.

Hostin urged her viewers to take COVID safety precautions seriously.

“COVID is very very serious,” she added. “It is not a joke. It is not a hoax.”

“We are in deep grief. We want everyone to know that you may think you’re healthy and that you wont be impacted, but you could be an asymptomatic carrier, Hostin urged. "You could put someone you love at risk. So please, I beg of you. Social distance. Wear a mask. Wash your hands.”
