Eminem Features Juice WRLD and Ed Sheeran on Surprise New Album

The MC courts controversy on gun control and Ariana Grande

Eminem has once again shocked fans, dropping a surprise album without warning. Music To Get Murdered By is the 11th album from the rapper, and his first since another surprise release in 2018.

Joining the iconic MC on Music To Get Murdered By is Ed Sheeran who provides the hook on “Those Kinda Nights,” a posthumous feature from Juice WRLD, Anderson .Paak, Black Thought, and more.

As with any release from Eminem, the latest project is already creating controversy. The album arrives along with a video for lead single “Darkness,” in which the GRAMMY-winning artist pictures himself as the shooter at the Route 91 Harvest Festival tragedy in Las Vegas in 2017. The video and the song are set to be a call for gun control, with the video urging people to register to vote to make a change. However, some have seen the clip as insensitive, given how recent the events occurred.

Eminem is also under fire for a lyric, evoking another tragedy surrounding an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester in 2017. “But I'm contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game, like I'm outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting,” he raps on “Unaccommodating.”

Grande has yet to comment on the lyric, but fans have been furious online for the rapper using the terrorist attack outside of her concert in 2017 that left 23 people dead, as a punchline.

Music To Get Murdered By is produced in part by longtime collaborator Dr. Dre. Eminem is credit under his moniker of Slim Shady for the LP.
