Halsey took to Instagram yesterday to show off some new ink in honor of her late friend Juice WRLD. Written in cursive across her hand, the tattoo reads "Life's a mess 999,” referencing the title of her collaboration with the rapper before his untimely passing, accompanied by his favorite number.
"Juice was one of the greatest people I have ever known, and one of the most brilliant artists we will ever live to witness. A true genius who had lyric and melody spilling out of him without any second thought or hesitation. And a beautiful soul who believed in spreading love and creating a community for people to feel less alone," Halsey captioned the touching tribute. "It means everything to me that I could be a part of this album. I cried the first time that I heard it. With all the love in my heart, #lljw - 'Life’s A Mess.'"
In a 2019 interview, Juice explained the series of the repeated nines represented making something good out of the bad. Sharing that the "999" was "666" inverted, ”taking whatever ill, whatever bad situation, whatever struggle you're going through and turning it into something positive to push yourself forward.” He also had his own "999" tattoo on his forearm and named his official merch collection the number as well.
In the post, Halsey also shared a bit of the new single which is to be featured on Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die. The posthumous album is set for release this Friday seven months after his sudden death.
An official album announcement was made on Monday, followed up by a message posted on the Juice’s former Instagram account.
“This Friday, we will be honoring the life of Juice WRLD by releasing the album Legends Never Die. We feel that this collection of 15 songs best represents the music Juice was in the process of making The album shines a light on the collaborators that meant so much to Juice and deeply impacted his musical process," the statement continued. "Juice dedicated his music to his fans and, now more than ever, we hope this album brings some reprieve to everyone during these unsettling times. Please join us in celebrating Juice's life by enjoying this album. Juice's legacy will live forever; LEGENDS NEVER DIE!"
