The song, built off of the same beats from Drake’s tune, “Pipe Down,” off of his Certified Lover Boy album, acknowledges the rapper’s basketball background with inspirational lyrics surrounding his time as a star hoopster.

Cole was a high school basketball star at Sanford High School in North Carolina as well as a walk-on for the St. John's college basketball team in college before he dropped out to pursue his music career.

In tandem with the fresh single comes a new music video, directed by Simon Chasalow.

“Heavens EP” is a cherry on top for J. Cole’s fans, who are still on a high after the release of his The Off Season album, which released in May. While the project was Cole’s sixth studio album, it was the first new album release in three years for the rapper who is as in demand as the likes of RihannaKendrick Lamar and Beyoncé.

Cole will kick off his nationwide Off-Season tour, with appearances by 21 Savage and Morray in Miami on September 24th. The trek will continue through various cities nationwide before wrapping in Los Angeles in November.
