Kanye West Celebrates Mother's Birthday With New Song and Classic Clip

'In loving memory of my incredible mother on her birthday'

This past Sunday would have been the 71st birthday of Kanye West's mother, Donda West, who passed away back in 2007 at the age of 58 following post-surgery complications.

The rapper, media mogul, and 2020 presidential contender marked the day with a new song, and he and his wife Kim Kardashian West also shared a pair of touching throwback clips featuring the late matriarch.

West shared a brand new song, titled "DONDA" which features his mother reciting KRS1 lyrics from "Sound of da Police" in the intro.

Wife Kim joined in on the remembrance of Donda, sharing a longer clip of Kanye and his mother singing his song "Hey Mama" off 2005's Late Registration, while smiling and dancing together in the kitchen.

Donda West passed in 2007 of coronary artery disease and multiple post-operative circumstances from, or as a result of, liposuction and mammoplasty. Following her death, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed the "Donda West Law," which makes it mandatory for patients to receive written clearance from a doctor within 30 days prior to receiving elective cosmetic surgery.

Long a fervent supporter, West recently announced his falling out with the Donald Trump administration, removing the MAGA hat and announcing his intention to run for President of the United States in the 2020 election. Although he may already be facing some trouble in a few states where he will have to be written in on the ballot due to missing registration deadlines.
