Post Malone and Tyla Yaweh Team Up on 'Tommy Lee' and Shout Out the Motley Crue Drummer

The duo had toured together on Malone's 'Runaway Tour'

The mentor/mentee relationship is in full effect as Post Malone and Tyla Yaweh dropped their highly anticipated new single today, “Tommy Lee.”

While not confirmed, Tyla Yaweh plans to drop a new album this summer with “Tommy Lee” presumably a part of it. As you might have guessed, the song pays tribute to Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee with lines like “pull up with the drum like I'm Tommy Lee/Yaweh got a stick, came to rock with me.”

Although it marks the duo’s first collaboration with one another, the pair shared plenty of time together as Yaweh served as a supporting act on Malone’s massive Runaway Tour. The tour unfortunately came to a halt back in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it appears their collaborative partnership may just be getting started as Yaweh is currently signed to Malone’s London Entertainment label.

Post Malone has been active during his time in quarantine using it as an opportunity to pursue a host of collaborations. Travis Barker recently revealed he got together with Malone for some jam sessions and to write new music. The collaboration came about after Malone tapped Barker to drum on his livestream set of Nirvana covers this past April.

“I was sitting at home and I was working with this artist named Poorstacy. I got a phone call from Brian Lee,” Barker said. “He writes with Post a lot and is a really good friend of his and he said, ‘I have this song idea I want to present to Post, I’d really like you to record drums on it.”

Malone also teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly to host a virtual beer pong tournament to benefit coronavirus relief efforts. The duo enlisted numerous musicians, athletes, and other celebrities to take part in the tournament.
