DaBaby has taken to Instagram to apologize, after video surfaced of the “BOP” rapper striking a female fan at an after-party in Tampa, FL this weekend. Following a performance at a festival, the clip shows DaBaby hitting an attendee allegedly attempting to film him on his walk through the club. The artist left the event before performing.
"I do sincerely apologize. I'm very sorry that there was a female on the other end of that flashlight on their phone," he explained in the video, stating that the camera light kept him from being able to see. "But keep in mind I couldn't see you, because you got the flash this close to me - which is okay, it's no problem - a lot of people did. They didn't put it as close as you put it.”
DaBaby went on ask fans to “zoom in” on their phone, rather than getting so close to him. “Out of all them fans, how many people knew how to zoom in. Just zoom in, instead of popping me in the motherf***ing eye with the phone."
According to TMZ, the female fan now has a lawyer and plans on continuing the conversation about the incident. “Morgan & Morgan has been retained to represent the interests of Tyronesha Laws,” attorney Matt Morgan tells TMZ. “Ms. Laws has received DaBaby's Instagram message. We look forward to speaking with Mr. Kirk."
This weekend’s incident follows charges of battery that were eventually dropped earlier this year. That dispute stemmed from a disagreement over payment for a performance.
