Lil Nas X recently came out with a subtle but rainbow-filled pride post. “I thought I made it obvious,” he joked in a Tweet calling out the colorful lighting of his 7 EP cover.
Even with the gentle tact of his announcement that he’s gay, the rapper is still facing backlash from fans who claim to see him differently now. “Just got news that I’m gay and I will no longer be streaming my music. I’m sorry that sh*t is just not ok,” he Tweeted in a good-humored response to the hate he’s received.
“I used to be that person being negative,” he said. “I’m not angry or anything, because I understand how they just want that reaction. So I'm just going to joke back with them."
After considering never coming out, Lil Nas had a change of heart and came out to the world on the last day of Pride Month. "I don't want to live my entire life... not doing what I want to do," he told BBC after explaining he felt like he was encouraging fans to do the same.
