The upcoming film "Beast" is a survival thriller directed by Baltasar Kormakur and based on an original idea by Jaime Primak-Sullivan. The details of the story are largely unknown, but one thing's for sure - Idris Elba will star in the movie.
.Elba is coming off of his recent project, "Concrete Cowboy," which was featured in the Toronto Film Festival. Next year, he will star as Bloodshot in James Gunn's DC movie "The Suicide Squad."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the script of "Beast" is written by Ryan Engle, who worked on "Rampage" starring Dwayne Johnson. The film is said to be similar to "The Shallows," a film featuring Blake Lively as a surfer who is stalked by a shark. "Beast" will feature a lion as the predator.
Kormakur is best known for gritty thrillers like "Everest" and "Adrift." He directed previous flicks in his home country of Iceland.
Earlier this year, Elba was one of the first celebrities to announce that they had tested positive for the coronavirus.
He announced the news in a tweet stating, "This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus."
"Stay home people and be pragmatic,” the 47-year-old actor added. “I will keep you updated on how I’m doing. No panic.”
Elba's shock announcement came shortly after Tom Hanks and his wife also revealed they had tested positive for the virus.
