What Is the Song Featured in the 'El Camino' Trailer?

The first full trailer has a haunting but beautiful soundtrack

Just a few weeks away from the premiere of El Camino, and we’ve got the first full trailer for the Breaking Bad movie.

As a scarred suspect, Jesse Pinkman continues down the path from the finale, on the run and searching. As we see him cleaning himself up and venturing back out to the desert, we hear a haunting but beautiful, wounded anthem.

The song is “Black Water,” and it’s performed by Reuben and The Dark. It’s the closing track to the group’s 2014 album Funeral Sky, and just one example of frontman Reuben Bullock’s distinct and dynamic voice.

“I am a huge fan of Breaking Bad so it’s hard to express how surreal it really is... seeing those images set to my music," Bullock tells RADIO.COM. "The song is perfect too, like it was written for this the whole time. I have so much respect for all of the actors and everyone involved in this show. The music has always been so thoughtful... so strong. It's such an honor to be in the trailer.”

The group comes from Canada, and is a folk-rock outfit that specializes in passionate anthems, that as they note, “explore the duality of sorrow and joy.” Just like the show itself. The band’s debut album was produced by former Florence and the Machine drummer, Christopher Hayden. They are prepping their third LP, un | love, which is due out next month.

Music has also been a big part of Breaking Bad, from the Dave Porter theme, to the perfect placement of Tommy James & The Shondells “Crystal Blue Persuasion,” to the final scene with “Baby Blue” by Badfinger, the show has also hit the right note.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie premieres on Netflix on October 11. It was directed by series creator Vince Gilligan.
