Both Beyoncé and Britney Spears Have a 'Tiger King' Connection

Crossing paths with the stars of the Netflix hit

If you haven’t watched Tiger King on Netflix yet, you’re probably doing this pandemic all wrong. With a nation social distancing and many at home over new regulations from coronavirus concerns, the streaming documentary has provided the perfect escape. Cool cats and kittens across the country have become fixated on this bonkers tale of tigers and treachery, making stars out of some of the most unlikely characters.

It appears that some of these people have been a part of our lives all along, crossing paths with some our favorite artists. We just weren’t looking hard enough.

Doc Antle is the cult-like leader and founder of Myrtle Beach Safari, inviting guests to play with tiger cubs for a premium alongside his harem of women. But Doc has also been providing animals from his place for movies and TV shows for years, appearing on Late Night programs and inviting stars to get up close and personal with big cats.

This weekend, photos surfaced from Britney Spears’ infamous 2001 MTV Video Music Awards performance of “I’m a Slave 4 U” featuring a live snake. With so much focus on the singer and the large yellow reptile, we nearly forgot about the live tiger that was a part of the show, handled by none other than Doc Antle.

But Britney is not the only artist who has spent time with Doc, with several others stopping by his Myrtle Beach Safari to get some furry facetime. Even Beyoncé couldn’t resist the opportunity to feed a tiger or snuggle with a chimp, as seen in this Instagram post.

Tiger King has earned a reaction from Kim Kardashian West, Cardi B, and a long list of other A-listers who have been binging on the series during this time. The series has also prompted the Hillsborough County police department to ask for any new information concerning the disappearance of Don Lewis, another figure from the show.

Tiger King is now streaming on Netflix.
