The murky waters of the #FreeBritney movement just got a little more dirty.
A new documentary from The New York Times Presents detailing the plight of pop star Britney Spears to extricate herself from a 12-year long conservatorship helmed by her father, Jamie Spears, has had fans in uproar over her media treatment throughout the years. Now, another country has been heard from in this prolonged saga -- Britney's boyfriend, personal trainer Sam Asghari.

Just yesterday, Asghari told People magazine, "I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves... I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."
But it seems he had more to offer, specifically regarding Britney's father, Jamie. In an Instagram story on February 9, Sam said: "Now it's important for people to understand that I have zero respect for someone trying to control our relationship and constantly throwing obstacles our way. In my opinion Jamie is a total d***. I won't be going into details because I've always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn't come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom." And if you're wondering, yes a mic drop gif was included.
Last we heard from Sam was in December of 2020 when he alerted fans about his recent COVID diagnosis. We're hoping he's in full recovery and keeps offering up glimpses into this family drama that doesn't seem to be going away any time soon.
